ZAMBOANGA CITY — The relentless drug war initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte had cut down to about 90 percent the supply of illegal drugs in the country, according to Philippine National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa said that as far as the supply side is concerned, they have reduced about 80 percent of illegal drugs and its ingredients that are coming in the country.
We have severely cut the head of the supply with the operation in Bilibid,Dela Rosa said in his recent visit here.
He said the drug lords detained inside the prison facility used to think Bilibid was their fortress as nobody from outside could hamper their operations.
Dela Rosa said the supply started to drop after their clamp down in Bilibid with the deployment of the Special Action Force.
He said the action helped remove all the communication and other means used previously by the drug lords operating inside the prison facility.
They cannot order because they have no cellphones. So there’s no supply is coming in and they could not distribute, Dela Rosa said.
But Dela Rosa said there are still drug lords operating outside like in Binondo and big hotels in Manila.
But comparing before the operation in Bilibid was bigger because the illegal drugs operation was used to be unhampered, Dela Rosa said.
