MANILA, Philippines — After his visit to Brunei and China, President Rodrigo Duterte plans on discussing with his cabinet members the possibility of implementing a nationwide firecracker ban.
In Davao City, where the president served as mayor, a firecracker ban has long been enforced to avoid incidence of firecracker-related injuries and deaths especially during the year end celebrations.
During the campaign period, one of President Duterte’s proposed changes was the nationwide firecracker ban, but he said there are many things to consider.
“There will be loss of business, economic, whatever, social, everything. So I would need the Cabinet to decide. It will be a cabinet decision, “said Duterte.
